  கொடைக்கானல்  (Kodaikanal)              இந்தியாவில்   தமிழ்நாட்டில்   திண்டுக்கல் மாவட்டத்தில்   உள்ள ஒரு தாலுகாவின் தலைநகரமும் நகரமும் ஆகும். [ 1 ]   கொடைக்கானலின் தொடக்க காலம் முதலே குடியிருந்து வருபவர்கள்   பளியர்   இன மக்களேயாவர். சங்க இலக்கியங்களில் மிகவும் முந்தைய காலத்தில் கொடைக்கானல் மற்றும்   பழனி மலைகள்   தொடர்பான தனிப்பட்ட குறிப்புகள் காணப்படுகின்றன.           1821 ஆம் ஆண்டில், லெப்டினன்ட் பி. எஸ். வார்டு, என்ற பிரித்தானிய நில அலவையாளர், கொடைக்கானலுக்கு வருகை தந்த முதலாவது ஐரோப்பியராவார். 1834 ஆம் ஆண்டில், மதுரை ஆட்சியர் தேவதானப்பட்டியிலிருந்து ஏறி, கொடைக்கானலில் ஒரு சிறிய பங்களாவைக் கட்டினார். 1863 ஆம் ஆண்டில், மதுரை ஆட்சியர் சர் வேர் ஹெண்டி லீவினி, கொடைக்கானலில் ஏரி ஒன்றை 60 ஏக்கர் நிலத்தில் உருவாக்கினார். இதற்காக இப்பகுதியில் ஓடிய நீரோடைகளை தடுப்பணைகள் மூலம் தடுத்து ஏரியாக மாற்றினார். அவர் துாத்துக்குடியிலிருந்து இந்த ஏரியில் சவாரி செய்வதற்கான முதல் படகுகளையு...
